ABOUT US

Operating Theatre Live is a hybrid live learning experience where your students go inside the operating theatre with our award winning and nationally acclaimed clinical team right from the comfort of their school seats.

How does it work?

Book to join our online live stream set up a projector with a wifi connection in your classroom or school hall. Upon booking we will send you our surgical box by courier, this is a specialist box containing all of the organs you need for your students to take part in our guided dissections live from operating theatre. Each box contains enough specimens for the chosen number of students, a colour printed A4 workbook pack and a certificate for taking part.

When you're finished log off and throw away the organs in your normal school disposal.

Brain Surgery

In this live stream you and your students will discover a patient with a serious head injury, you will join Human Anatomist Sam Piri and his clinical team live in the operating theatre to learn how the boney cranium is structured, how the layers of the meninges shield, stabilise and nourish the brain matter, and how the brain structure is linked to its function. Your students will dissect the spinal chord and brain stem to see its internal make up, the right and left hemispheres, the convoluted sulci & gyri along with the intricate ventricles that produce and circulate the cerebral spinal fluid. Sam will explain the lobes of the brain, the role of the cerebellum, what happens in a stroke and how it causes an aphasia. Your students will peel back the meninge layers, touch the white and grey matter and feel the important tethering points that keep the brain in the correct orientation inside the head.
